Lights up, volume down, move freely
We close the week with a relaxed screening of a family film. The lights stay up, the volume stays low, and nobody is asked to sit still or stay quiet. Children can watch from a beanbag, pace at the back, lie under a blanket, or drift in and out of the room entirely.
Ordinary cinemas are inaccessible to a lot of our families — not because of the film, but because of the darkness, the volume, and the unspoken expectation that a child sits silently for ninety minutes. Removing all three turns the same activity into something a family can actually share.
Friday is deliberately the calmest day of the week. After the animals, the costumes, the inflatables, and the magic, most children need a low-demand day, and this is it.
Four high-stimulation days in a row is a lot, and it is completely normal for a child to arrive Friday with very little left in the tank. If your child has had a hard week, a short Friday is a perfectly good Friday — come for the film and go home after lunch. Their BCBA will share observations from the week at your next parent session, including anything worth carrying into their regular programming.
Allergies, food preferences, or wanting a shorter day — just let us know.
